Establishing Earthly Birth in 2010, Rebecca put focus on the care of pregnant women, new mums and their babies. This area of interest has now carried through to her offerings of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine into the clinic.

​However - acupuncture appointments are open to all at both the Unley and Hove locations.

Rebecca can best describe Acupuncture as the insertion of tiny, very thin, sterile and single use acupuncture needles into certain acupoints throughout the body. Which points are treated depends on the Chinese Medicine diagnosis at the time of your appointment.

There is a plentiful supply of research into women receiving acupuncture throughout their pregnancy, but also in the lead up to giving birth.

Little ones can be hard to work out sometimes! When young, their brand new worldly bodies are working out how to survive and thrive. As they grow, from Rebecca's experience, children can present with a number of health concerns ranging from skin conditions to sleep disturbances and digestive problems.

Children often appear fascinated by the Shonishin (non-invasive acupuncture) treatment they receive. This type of session involves tapping, scraping and other gentle techniques to stimulate the meridians (or channels) and acupoints.

Shonishin may be a treatment option not explored previously by many parents, for a large array of children's conditions and health concerns.

Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture (Facial Rejuvenation treatment)

Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture draws from the ancient theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and places them in the 21st Century, alongside our desire to maintain a youthful appearance. 

​Whilst you will not be injected with anything, you will receive a number of very small, "baby" acupuncture needles. Dr. Rebecca Brook only uses high quality, silicone tipped (and extra fine) single use acupuncture needles throughout various locations in the face.

​Body acupuncture and guasha (as seen in the photo) are also used alongside Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture. This is to enhance treatments, address underlying conditions (especially deficiencies), and nourish the body instead of drawing on your reserves.

​Treating you as a "whole person" embraces TCM principles, and will increase the benefits of longer lasting results - compared to just treating the face alone.

FAQ's

How many treatments will I need?

A usual course of treatment might consist of between 10 - 20 treatments. Dr. Rebecca Brook will consult with you as to your individual desires, needs and budget.

Does it hurt?

Acupuncture in general provides a different sensation for everyone. Facial acupuncture, with the use of such fine needles, is generally pain free for most people. Should you experience discomfort, this will be addresses with your Practitioner at the time. But most patients enjoy the experience!

Will I see a difference?

All good things take time! As with all natural treatment options, sometimes lifestyle changes may be necessary to support your body's ability to improve on itself! Burning the candle at both ends is not recommended whilst undergoing this treatment process - looking after yourself is! Dr. Rebecca Brook will discuss various foods, dietary advice, and potentially Chinese herbal medicine formulas to enhance the treatment you are receiving. Sometimes making small changes will give you the best chance of getting the results you hope for.
